Description

The acronym "CTET" stands for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. The CTET is aimed at assessing the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools affiliated with the Central Government.

Here's a brief description of the CTET:

  1. Purpose: The primary purpose of the CTET is to ensure that candidates intending to pursue a career in teaching meet the necessary standards and qualifications set by the central government.

  2. Levels: The CTET exam is conducted in two levels:

    • Paper I: For candidates who aspire to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage)
    • Paper II: For candidates who aspire to teach classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage)
  3. Eligibility: The basic eligibility criteria for appearing in the CTET exam is that candidates must have completed or should be in the final year of their Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), or any other equivalent qualification.

  4. Exam Pattern: The CTET exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering topics such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies (for Paper I), and Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics and Science, Social Studies/Social Science (for Paper II).

  5. Validity: The CTET certificate is valid for seven years from the date of declaration of the result.

  6. Examination Frequency: The CTET exam is typically conducted twice a year, usually in the months of July and December.

  7. Qualifying Marks: Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks in the CTET exam to be considered eligible for the certificate. However, there is relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the norms.

  8. Application Process: Candidates need to apply online for the CTET exam through the official website of CBSE during the application window announced by the board.

  9. Career Opportunities: Qualifying the CTET exam opens up opportunities for candidates to apply for teaching positions in government schools across India.

    Mathematics and Environmental Studies have 30 questions each, split between content topics (like numbers, geometry, environment, food, and water) and pedagogical issues.
